Leading City Procurement Reform

05.09.2022

- 05.12.2022

A joint offering from the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative and the Harvard Kennedy School Government Performance Lab (GPL), the Leading City Procurement Reform program is designed to equip leaders with the tools, knowledge, and networks needed to elevate and transform the procurement function in their cities. The program provided a tailored curriculum encompassing both procurement-specific topics and strategic management frameworks including collaboration, negotiation, and adaptive leadership. The 6-month program began with virtual individual coaching sessions with a GPL program expert, in which each team identified and workshopped a pressing challenge related to procurement. In May, participants traveled to the HKS campus for four days of intensive classroom experience, coaching, and networking. Afterward, participants received 2 months of virtual coaching from the GPL to implement the plan of action they developed during their time on campus.
