Has your government faced challenges when buying or implementing technology aimed at modernizing procurement processes?

Many state and local governments are shifting away from antiquated, paper-based procurement processes by leveraging technology. However, buying and implementing a new technology can bring a wide variety of challenges, from deciding which technology will be best equipped to meet your needs, to balancing the perspectives of multiple internal stakeholders, to preparing staff for new workflows and procedures.

The Procurement Excellence Network (PEN) hosted a peer roundtable discussion on how to set your government up for success when soliciting and implementing procurement-related technology (i.e., a new e-procurement system) and how to navigate the challenges these purchases present. This roundtable also featured examples from peer governments with procurement technology success stories and their lessons learned on how to avoid common pitfalls.
